"My guy my pal my smiley faced kind soul. There is no words to describe my heartache that you're no longer with us. I know you're in a better place now and you're no longer in pain but I wasn't ready to let you go. We got so close and have so many wonderful memories together. From doing cares to getting ready for a prom and sharing stories together to giving you my best care possible at all times but especially on your last days with us. AL it was a complete honor to care for you and to get to know you and know your life and your wonderful wife and family too!! I'll never ever forget you and you'll always be tucked tight in my heart. Through you sir I will continue my devotion and care to other residents. And yes I will take care of Lois for you and make sure she is cared for. Until we meet again I hope you rest in peace and I'll see you again I'm sure. I just really miss you ??"

"I'm sure going to miss my Grandpa Al. He was a wonderful guy and welcomed us Thum (my brother and I, cousins Tara, Jed, Jake, Barbara, Brandon, Trish, Kaylynn, Caleb, Alyssa, Jessica, and A.J.) and Shaw (Kristen and Candace) kids as grandchildren when he married my Grandma Lois in 1986. I remember sitting on his lap while games of pitch were being played at family get togethers and picked up a lot of pointers from him while sitting there. He loved his family and we loved him back. He loved turtle. It didn't matter where he and grandma were at, if I called and told him that I had a snapping turtle, they'd be pulling in to get it sometime that day. He would throw em in the trunk of their car or bed of his truck and go home to dress it out. Being married to one of the greatest cooks on the planet was beneficial because my grandma Lois knows how to cook turtle that will melt in your mouth! He loved my Grandma Lois and they never ventured too far apart from one another. We teased him that he'd never lose any weight with my grandma's cooking. He always told us that we didn't need to call him grandpa because he didn't want to take away from my true grandparents. I called him grandpa most of the time anyways but I know it didn't matter to him. He loved us no matter what we called him. He was one hell of a guy! He especially loved his stamping grounds of Mason County. Snicarte to be exact... He'd always say, "God's Country..." after saying the words Mason county. I loved that and I'll never forget him. Love ya Grandpa Al! Wherever you are, I'm sure you've got a turtle trap out somewhere with a basket full of bullfrogs as well!"
