Evelyn Menting
January 1, 1930 - April 7, 2021

Evelyn Menting, formerly of Phlox, currently of Antigo, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at The Bay at Eastview. She was 91 years old. She was born on January 1, 1930, in Antigo, a daughter of Wenzel and Bertha (Engl) Husnick. She married Matthew Menting on June 18, 1955, at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2018.

She was a graduate of Antigo High School in 1948.

After high school Evelyn worked at the Admissions desk at Langlade Memorial Hospital for 3 years.

She moved to Dayton Ohio to train at St. Elizabeth Hospital as an X-Ray technician. She worked a year as an X-Ray technician at Wausau Hospital before returning to Langlade Memorial Hospital where she also was an X-Ray technician.

She then raised her family near Phlox where she and her husband operated a dairy farm. She was a 4-H Leader for Phlox Flames 4-H club for many years.

In 1981 she began working at the General Clinic in Antigo as an X-Ray Technician and with office duties, working part-time until retirement in 2006.

She was a volunteer first responder for the town of Norwood Fire Department. She was a member of St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church in Phlox and the Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Devine-Menting American Legion Post 525 - Auxiliary.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, trips to the casino, and playing cards.

Survivors include a daughter, Shari (Ron) Rezachek, Manitowoc; a son, Steven (Diane) Menting, Antigo; five grandchildren Marcie (Michael, Jr.) Gottschalk, Walker Shadick and Amber, Justen Shadick, Morgan (Ed) Grusecki, Matthew Menting; two step grandchildren Tyler and Amanda Rezachek; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Raymond (Judy) Husnick, Antigo, Kenneth (Aggie) Husnick, Antigo, Donald (Ginger) Husnick, Antigo, Herbert (Kitty) Husnick, Antigo; five sisters-in-law, Loretta Husnick, Antigo, Rose Husnick, Elcho, Eileen Menting, Antigo, Jane Menting, Phlox, Montel Menting of Indiana.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, John Menting; two grandchildren, Andrew and Allison Menting; four brothers, Wenzel, Eugene (Shirley), Leon (Lorraine), Lamond "Jim" Husnick; a sister, Mary (Leonard) Schisel; seven sisters-in-law, Genevieve Husnick, Margaret Menting, Caroline (William) Watts, Sr. Camilla Menting, Mary Ann (Bill) Bauer, Sr. Mary Anthony Menting and Eleanor in infancy; four brothers-in-law, Roman, Alvin, Harold and Robert Menting.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 12, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church in Phlox with Rev. Edmundo Siguenza officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
