Canton - Earl E. Bender, 87, of Canton, passed away, Saturday, April 10, 2021, at his home in Canton, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
He was born on September 14, 1933, to Earl W. Bender and Leatha (Standard). They preceded him in death.
Earl is survived by his wife, Susan (DelRio) Bender, whom he married on August 7, 1954, in Cuero, Texas.
Also surviving are five children, Earl "Buzzy" (the late Sandy) Bender of Canton, Billy "Dode" (Julie) Bender of Franklin Tennessee, Thomas "Toby" Bender of O'Fallon Missouri, Barbara "Missy" (Ed) Davis of Canton, and Carol "Mendy" (Douglas) Kepler of Peoria, Arizona. Ten grandchildren, Jeremy, Jared, Jacob, Jacey, Jessica, Joshua, Emily, Erika, Abbey, and Montana, and eight great grandchildren, Ethan, Alyssa, Avery, Trystin, Kelsey. Landin, Tatum, and Madison.
Also preceding him in death are two brothers, Mearl Bender, and Billy Bender, and two sisters Betty Laswell and Ollie Jean Bender.
Earl retired from Maytag after 24 years. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War from 1952 until 1956. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing cards. Earl loved to watch baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs, and the Fighting Irish Football Team. He also enjoyed going to Vegas, dancing, and traveling with his wife Sue. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family.
A funeral service will be held on Friday April 16, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial with military honors will be held at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to Easter Seals.
