Donald W. Gibbs, age 64, of Urbandale, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Urbandale on Sunday, April 18, 2021.

Born June 11, 1956, in Nevada, Iowa, Donald Wayne Gibbs was the son of Albert and Genevieve (Campbell) Gibbs. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1974 and was married to Bonnie Linda Lentsch on May 28, 1977, in Nevada. They were later divorced. Don married Patricia Millard on June 1, 2004.

Don was employed at Colonial Bread for 20 years, then worked in the warehouse at Iowa Quality Meats, and, most recently, retired from Mom's Meals. He enjoyed going for drives, listening to classic music, and was an enthusiastic sports fan, especially the Kansas City Chiefs.

Survivors include a son, James (Trista) Gibbs of Jewell; step-sons, Joey (Heather) Powell of Story City, and Shannon (Michelle) Powell of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Carson Gibbs, Charlie Sue Jarnagin, and Alex Powell; a brother, Richard "Dick" Gibbs of California; a sister, Cathy Johnson of Story City; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Patricia; a sister, Patricia Martens; and two brothers, Robert Gibbs and Mike Gibbs.

Ames Monument & Cremation Center has been entrusted with the care of Donald and his family.
