In loving memory of

Rogelio Joves Macaraeg
July 4, 1961 - April 25, 2021

IRVINGTON - ROGELIO JOVES MACARAEG passed away April 25, 2021, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He was 59.

Born in Manila, Philippines, he lived in Edison and Elizabeth prior to moving to Irvington 3 years ago.

He worked for 18 years as a Senior Accountant for Physician Affiliate Group of New York.

Roger loved food and travel experiences, willing to explore new places and cultures. He travelled along the East Coast, the West Coast, the Philippines, and Canada to spend time with family far away. In his spare time, Roger can be found watching a basketball game on TV and binging movies either on Netflix or DVDs. He enjoyed home cooked meals, thrifting, and gardening. For example, he would yell, "GARAAAAAGE SALE." Roger enjoyed spending time with his children, making sure they felt supported by him. As the eldest brother of 5 siblings, he was the mediator and made sure his siblings were fine in the Philippines. Roger was the best father, brother, and friend that anyone could ever ask for. Our lives are a little better because of him.

Rogelio was predeceased by his parents Pepito and Paz (Joves) Macaraeg.

He is survived by his children, Angelo Carlos Macaraeg (aka, Charles) of Greensboro, NC and Jocelyn Ariel Macaraeg (aka, Joyce) of Edison; his confidante, Gemma Jayme; brothers, Edmund (aka, Deng) and his spouse, Merlie, Carlos (aka, Leng), and his spouse, Rose; sisters, Evelyn (aka, Ve) Santiago, and her spouse, Jun, and Jocelyn (aka, Jo) Macaraeg, all of Manila, Philippines; sister, Melinda (aka, Mel) Garcia and her spouse, Edgardo reside in Alberta, Canada.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, April 30, 2021, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, where a funeral service will be at 7:30pm.

"Roger, you are missed! Thank you for being a kind soul and always welcoming to everyone around you. I am happy I got to know you over the past 7 years. I remember our first encounter at Metropolitan after I began working and Camilla brought me down to introduce us. Thereafter we had the running joke about me having to ask you for permission to bring check requests down because we worked on different floors and in order to access your floor, someone had to open the door. Then we moved to 125th and I made sure to bother you every morning that I saw you and you would always smile. Your memory will live on! "
