Lola Sloan MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Lola E. Sloan, 91, Muscatine, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at Lutheran Homes. Chaplain Vicki Pedersen will officiate. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 8, Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, 2907 Mulberry Ave. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. After the burial, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Community Room at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, May 7, funeral home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home. Mrs. Sloan was born Sept. 18, 1914, in New Boston, Ill., the daughter of George and Minnie E. Short Gauger. She married Harry B. Sloan on Nov. 25, 1933, in Aledo, Ill. He preceded her in death in August 1957. She had been a resident of the Muscatine area for 55 years. She moved to Grandview in 1991. She was employed at Thatcher Plastics for 27 years before retiring. She enjoyed cooking, baking, dining out and spending time with her family and friends. She found happiness through other's enjoyment. Survivors include a son, Larry Sloan of Muscatine; her grandchildren, Darren Sloan and wife Renee of Muscatine, Gina Huggins and husband Darrin of Ankeny and Nicole Staudt and husband Jason of San Antonio, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua Brewer, Blake Brewer, Emily Huggins, Brady Huggins, Hailey Huggins, Jordan Sloan and Clayton Sloan; and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters and two brothers.
