Beverly Alitz, 81, of McCallsburg, Iowa passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, in McCallsburg, with Pastor Kathy Sandmann officiating. A private family burial will be held at Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg.
Bev was born in McCallsburg, Iowa on June 22, 1939 to Dwayne and Maurine (Hauskins) Risdal. She attended school in McCallsburg and graduated in 1957 from the McCallsburg High School. Following school, Bev worked various jobs but later worked at Iowa State University as a cook until her retirement. On June 21, 1992 she married George Alitz in Ames, Iowa. The couple lived in McCallsburg with her beloved dog. Bev was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Her children and grandchildren were her life. One of her greatest gifts was sharing her love for music and the entire family had jam sessions at all holiday functions. She was a part of a country band her entire adult life and it was a joy for her to sing to others. In recent years, she really enjoyed singing gospel.
Those left to cherish her loving memories are her husband George Alitz, of McCallsburg, IA; children Butch (Mary) Elliott of Boone, IA, Lori (Rex) Gross of Madrid, IA, Jeanne (Dan) Vellinga of Marshalltown, IA, Kim (Kevin) Jacobson of McCallsburg, IA, Lisa Griffith of Dallas, GA, and Doug (Rhonda) Elliott of Boone, IA; grandchildren Heidi (Travis) Garrett, Haley Elliott, Caleb Elliott, Jami (Jason) Gross-Toalson, Gavin Gross, Tyler (Libby) Jacobson, Shane (Kelsey) Jacobson, Seth Griffith, Stephen (Amelia) Wildt, Erica Wildt, Justin (Becca) Elliott, Nikki Elliott, Brittany (Brandon) Shuey, and Nicole Vellinga; 23 great-grandchildren; sister Sharon Stole; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Don Risdal; and granddaughter Heather.
