Joan Baker MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Joan M. Baker, 70, Muscatine, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Walnut Park Baptist Church. The Rev. Dennis Hakes will officiate. Casket bearers are Howard Hilton, Geoff Hilton, William Hilton, Alan Hilton, Kirk Baker, Kyle Baker, Tyler Arrowood, Nathan Schubick, Matthew Schulte and Steve Kaufmann. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. After the services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2006, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, 2907 Mulberry Ave. Memorials may be directed to Walnut Park Baptist Church. Mrs. Baker was born June 3, 1936, in Muscatine, the daughter of Elmer J. and Cora B. Haan TeStrake. She married Herman C. Baker on March 24, 1984, in Muscatine. She was a 1954 graduate of Muscatine High School. She was a member of Walnut Park Baptist Church and Siesta Bay Church of Fort Myers, Fla. where she was very active in several different groups. She also sang in the choir as well as played the organ and piano. She enjoyed playing tennis and reading. She served on the Muscatine City Council from 1978-83, Muscatine City Planning and Zoning Board and Family Resource Board. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Patrick A. Hilton and wife Shannan of Muscatine and John D. Hilton of Milan, Ill.; two daughters, Connie S. Osborn and husband Larry of Muscatine and Kelly S. Septer and husband Gary of Fairfield; a stepson, Kirk C. Baker and wife Lori of Muscatine; two stepdaughters, Regeana K. Arrowood and husband James of Wilton and Renee L. Grady of Orland Park, Ill.; two brothers, Myron J. TeStrake and wife Shirley of Muscatine and Donald L. TeStrake and wife Sue of Littleton, Colo.; two sisters, Marion A. Hilton and Virginia R. Drinkall and husband Dale, all of Muscatine; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
