James Carl Browning James Carl Browning, 62, died July 30, 2006, at Shasta Regional Medical Center, Redding. He was cremated and a private service was held in Redding. Mr. Browning was born March 22, 1944, in Muscatine, the son of Carl and Maxine Furnas Browning. He had worked for Northern Gravel and Umthun Trucking before joining the U.S. Navy Seabees in 1967. He had served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He had resided in Oxnard, Calif. for 34 years and in Shasta Lake, Calif. for four years. He was a truck driver and a member of International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 186 in Ventura, Calif. Survivors include two daughters, Cherdyl Lynn Zimmer of Shasta Lake and Crystal Ann Cardenas of Redding; three grandchildren, Brandon Lee Zimmer of Springfield, Ohio, Jamie Lynn Zimmer of Shasta Lake and Jake Cardenas of Redding; his mother, Maxine Browning Martin and stepfather Buster Martin of Letts; a brother, Wayne Browning and wife Bonnie of Paducah, Ky.; a sister, Kathi Browning Beverlin of Letts; an aunt; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents, maternal grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
