Thomas Grings Graveside services: 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery, Muscatine, with memorial services at 11 a.m., Grace United Church of Christ, Wilton. Visitation: 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton. Thomas J. Grings, 87, Moscow, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport. The Revs. Bill and Diane Anderson will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Deb Mohr and vocalist Henry Bentley. Casket bearers are Jeff Grings, Brett Grings, Tim Birkhofer, Alan Birkhofer, Bob Gunsolley and Harold "Skip" Burnett. Memorials may be made to Grace United Church of Christ and Wilton First Responders Mr. Grings was born Oct. 6, 1918, in Moscow, the son of Beryl and Oral Tuttle Grings. He married Mildred H. Johnson on Dec. 11, 1939, in Wilton. He farmed in Muscatine County his entire life, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and Wilton Masonic Lodge No. 167 A.F. amp; A.M. He served on the Wilton School Board for 12 years and was a 4-H leader for many years. He was charter member and past president of Wilton Sunset Housing and past president of the White Pigeon Board of Directors. He was a member of the Muscatine County Farm Bureau and was a founder and contributor to the purchase of the Wilton FFA farm. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Donna White of Annapolis, Md.; a son, Jerry Grings and wife Karen of Moscow; six grandchildren, Jeff Grings and wife Paula, Brett Grings and wife Sue and Beth Grings, all of Wilton, Anne White of Denver, Colo., Sara Hall and husband Pat of Severna Park, Md. and Katy Mason and husband Howard of New York, N.Y.; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Grings and wife Dorothy of Grandview; and a brother-in-law, Charles "Ted" Taylor of Wilton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Maxine Taylor; and a brother, Guy Grings.
