Victoria "Vicky" M. VanDyke
Canton - Vicky VanDyke, 76, of Peoria, formerly of Canton, passed away at 4:48 pm, Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on July 16, 1944 in Peoria to Frederick and Marian (Wolter) Frank. Vicky married David VanDyke on October 25, 1969 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2016. Also preceding her in death were her parents and brother Gregory Neal Frank.
Surviving are three children; Douglas Allan VanDyke of Canton, Brent Michael VanDyke of Peoria and Colleen Renee VanDyke of Westmont, IL, brother F. Allan (Gail) Frank of Valley Village, CA, step-brother Tony Lee (Nicole) Frank of Peoria, three sisters; Laurie Jean (Robert) Parish of Creve Coeur, Susan Lynn (Steven) Ibbotson of Murphy, NC, and Jill Ann (late Joseph) Powers of Creve Coeur and granddaughter Colette (VanDyke) Monsen.
Vicky worked as a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth in Dayton, OH, Methodist Pediatrics and various Dr. offices and as a private duty nurse. She also worked at nursing homes and retired from Zeller Nursing Home in Peoria in 1995. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton. Vicky also was a member of the Bunko Club in Peoria. She enjoyed going to Dickson Mounds, listening to music, fishing with her sons, attending her daughters beauty pageants and musical performances, going on the Spoon River Drive, and playing games with fellow residents at elder care facilities in later years, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Vicky was a Lieutenant in the Army, serving as nurse.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 5-7 pm at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. Mass will be 10 am, Friday, May 28, 2021 at the St. Mary's Church in Canton. Due to CDC mandates masks and social distancing are required at the funeral home and church. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Canton. The family is planning a Memorial/Celebration and Memento giveaway in mid to late September in Peoria for those unable to travel or attend.
