"I have great, loving memories of Mrs. Tobin and her wonderful, loving family. I attended Redeemer and was in Molly?s grade. Being one of only a few black students, starting there in 6th grade was quite a culture change for me. The Tobin family welcomed me with open arms, and it was quite comforting. Mrs. Tobin was a great woman I was blessed to know. "

"I send my heartfelt condolences to ALL the Tobin family. Your Mom?s laughter is what I will always cherish. She filled the room with a mother?s joy, and ?her little light of mine? twinkle in her eyes. You have been blessed with the purist of motherly love and compassion. I remember feeling ?untethered? when my parents passed away, but the strength they instilled in our family bond helped me through those sad times. I hope and pray for all of you to be strong, support and love each other - everything and nothing changed last Sunday. "

"I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Tobin on June 29, 2013 in Rome for then Archbishop Tobin receiving his Pulliam from Pope Francis. I could immediately feel her warmth & genuine love for her family & all those who she met. The Archdiocese of Indianapolis coordinated the trip for all interested members of our Archdiocese. My second encounter was in the airport in Detroit as we flew to Rome for the Consistory to see the elevation of the Archbishop to Cardinal. She never stopped smiling for the entire trip. Her pride in all her family was shining brightly throughout the once in a lifetime experience. My last visit with Mrs. Tobin was December 8, 2016 at the Farewell Liturgy for Cardinal Tobin before he began his new assignment in Newark. I remember saying to her, I hope he'll remember me. She reassured me he would & he has done as his Mom said he would. Thank you Tobinites for sharing your lovely, kind & generous Mother with all of us. Her love of her catholic faith shines through in all of you. Also her Irish sense of humor & love of playing the piano. My deepest sympathy to all of you. Eternal rest grant unto her Oh Lord & may perpetual light shine upon her. Love & prayers! Mary Ann Van Note i.e., The Queen of Lithuania "

"I'm so sorry I could not make the funeral. I remember all the Tobins, but especially Ann, my childhood friend. Being at that house in Detroit was an experience. Mrs. Tobin was always welcoming, and I remember the longest kitchen table I ever saw. I also remember always having this great drink--it was red-- but I never knew what it was but it seemed like they had vats of it and it was always offered to me. All the older kids would be running in and out and always nice. The aunts would walk through now and then. It was wonderfully crazy in a way...and all the while Mrs. Tobin overseeing it smiling as I recall. How we all fit in that little yard with everyone hanging around I don't know.. it was fun and warm and welcoming. Ann and I were walking home from grade school together and I was going to go home with her one day but that was the day I found out my Dad had cancer so I told her I couldn't go. We were so young. She had a great smile. Great red hair too. Then she told me a few weeks later they were going to Canada....and just like that my friend was gone. I've never forgotten Ann, the family, the house, or Mrs. TOBIN'S smile. Thank you for the memories. Amy Rogers "

To all who made it possible, (nothing short of a miracle) thank you from the bottom of our hearts. May God bless you and keep you all as you go on without her. She had such a peace about her and so much love that made you feel special. Her soft voice and her kindness could get you through any day. I am so happy I had an opportunity to know her, but especially happy when one day she looked at me and said, ?you call me Mom?. Katherine Marsh wrote on May 25, 2021:

"How do you speak adequately of a woman like Marie Therese Tobin? When she spoke to you it always was full of words of encouragement and gratitude. Whenever I put something together for May devotions or for the schools or even when I was just busying about my work at Visitation Parish, she would greet me with that characteristic smile of hers that just drew you in, take my hand and with both gentleness, fire and strength look me straight in the eyes and tell me I was doing good work. She had a way about her, even in infirmity of imparting strength, joy and acceptance. She was an example to me of real Gospel hospitality, and even though I was technically the pastoral minister, I always felt that I received so much more from her simple and profound kindness. To the entire family, please know you are in my prayers. I mourn with you and wish I could express my sincere affection in person."
