Herbert 'Herbie' Mikel Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, Ill. Visitation: one hour prior to services Tuesday, funeral home. JONESBORO, Ga. -- Herbert "Herbie" James Mikel, 44, Jonesboro, formerly of New Boston, Ill., died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, at Southern Regional Medical Center, Riverdale, Ga. Cremation rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Mr. Mikel was born March 20, 1962, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. He graduated from Westmer High School, Joy, Ill., in 1980. He worked at Royal Food Services, Atlanta, where he had been employed for 10 years as a night shift supervisor. Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing and singing karaoke. Some of his favorite things about coming home to New Boston were fishing on the airboat with his dad on Sturgeon Bay and stopping at Happy Joe's Pizza, Aledo, for a large taco pizza. Survivors include his wife, Rose of Jonesboro; a daughter, Heather Mikel of New Boston; a son, James Evan Mikel of Dallas, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Thacker of Jonesboro; his father, Herbert C. Mikel, Jr. of New Boston; his mother and stepfather, Virgie D. and Carl "Butch" Fetters of Millersburg, Ill.; two sisters, Darlene Sunken and husband Brad and Melissa "Missy" Adams, all of Aledo; two nieces, Allison Adams of Aledo and Amber Garner of Klamath Falls, Ore.; a nephew, Austin Adams of Aledo; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and a brother-in-law, Steven Craig Adams.
