Robert Morris Memorial services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, 2907 Mulberry Ave. Robert W. Morris, 88, Burlington, formerly of Muscatine, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington. A time of refreshments and fellowship will be held from 9-10 a.m. Saturday in the Community Room at the funeral home. The Revs. Rick Crooks and Jason Unzicker will officiate. Private graveside services for the family will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice. Mr. Morris was born July 2, 1918, in Wapello, the son of G. Walter and Lola A. Wiederrecht Morris. He married V. Frances Woods on Dec. 23, 1951, in Wapello. He attended Wapello schools, graduating in 1937. He also attended Iowa State University and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a farmer and loved working the land. After farming 50 years, he and his wife, "his helpmate" retired to Muscatine in 1987. He served on numerous boards, including Muscatine Savings and Loan and the Louisa County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Corn and Soybean Growers and was a master corn producer. He was a Born Again Christian of the Protestant faith. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Muscatine, serving as a trustee; and attended Oak Street Baptist Church, Burlington. He and his wife moved to Burlington in 2000 to be near their daughters. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jennifer E. Hoopes and husband Robert of Letts and Sandra K. Hafner and husband James of Sperry; three grandchildren, Tara Jacobs Tornabane of Johnston, Michael Hafner of Letts and Susan Hafner Carlson of Ankeny; six great-grandchildren, Samuel Tornabane, Dominick Tornabane, Thomas Hafner, Nicholas Hafner, Alyssa Carlson and Braden Carlson; a sister, Marjorie Morris Jack of Wapello; a brother, John Morris and wife Ruth of Washington, Iowa; two nephews, Jerry Jack of Wapello and David Morris of Story City; a niece, Marilyn Max of Hickory, N.C.; six great-nieces and -nephews; five great-great nephews and nieces; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Morris of Wapello; and an infant brother and sister.
