Rachel Wade Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Woodmen Valley Chapel, Colorado Springs, Colo. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Rachel Jayne Wade, 23, Colorado Springs, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Officers' Christian Fellowship, 3784 S. Inca, Englewood, CO 80110-3405. Her story touched the hearts of many people throughout the world via a Web site created for her: www.rachelwade.com. She was preparing for her junior year at Colorado State University when she was struck by lightning three years ago. She was a gifted athlete competing in both volleyball and track at the collegiate level; was a member of the Chi Omega sorority; and was active in Campus Crusade for Christ. Survivors include her parents, Steve and Rita of Colorado Springs; a sister, Brienne of Colorado Springs; a brother, John of Colorado Springs; her grandmother, Goldie Kerschenske of Muscatine; aunts and uncles, Ken and Judy Snyder and Marvin Kerschenske, all of Muscatine, Carl and Rosemary Kerschenske of Cedar Rapids and Arnie and Linda Wilkins of Atalissa; cousins, Emily, Paul and Anna Snyder, Sheila and Zach Kerschenske, Sam Sloat, Pam Steward and husband Ryan and Brian Shell, all of Muscatine, and Sarah Kerschenske of St. Louis; along with many beloved friends.
