Canton - Lloyd E. Widmer, 87, of Canton, passed away at 11:10 am, Friday, May 28, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on December 2, 1933 in Cropsey, IL. to Carl and Martha (Baer) Widmer.
Lloyd married Joanne Petree on July 2, 1953 in Kankakee. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2020. Also preceding him in death were his parents, son Steven Widmer, one brother, two sisters and one great granddaughter. Surviving are two daughters, Lorena (David) Sale and Deanna (Clifton) Smedstad and one son, Joel (Lynne) Widmer, all of Canton. Also surviving is one daughter-in-law, Theresa Widmer of Decatur, brother Harry Widmer of South Carolina, two sisters; Doris Widmer and Annie Widmer both of Bloomington, 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
His family will be forever grateful for the love and support he showed them for his entire life. He will be dearly missed.
Lloyd was the manager of Canton Manufacturing for many years. He was a member of the Canton congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, where he served as an elder. He dedicated his life to his God Jehovah, and lived up to this dedication for over 60 years by publicly preaching the good news of God's coming Kingdom and showing love for his God and neighbor.
