"I am beyond sad just now hearing of the loss of my wonderful friend Gary. He was a big part of the Table Tennis Club since it was in Moon School back in the 1970's. Never ever heard a negative comment from Gary. The club disbanded around 1976 and I started it back up in 1978. Gary was one of the first to come back and help recruit people to play. It took a few weeks but it picked up and has been going strong since. I decided to retire from table tennis in 1987 and Gary was the one I knew was destined to take over and did he. He was happy to continue it and built it up to new heights. I don't know how long he continued to run it, but I knew he was still playing the last he told me in 2019. I am heart broken and wish his family only the very best blessings and trust that God will give you his peace."

"We are so very sorry to hear of the passing of Gary. We are grateful for the short time we had getting to know our ?Michigan family? at John and Noely?s wedding. We had hoped to get to know him better. Our hearts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. Thinking of you, Betty and Brett and his family and friends who miss him so much. Next time I play a game of table tennis over at John?s house, I will think of Gary! Much love from your Maryland family - Keri and Gary Jacobs, Shannon and Scott (Noely?s family) "

"I met Gary 30 years ago when I first walked into the table tennis club he was so passionate about. He was always the competitor on the other side of the table with quick hands and a deceptive backhand. Always a pleasure to play. We shared business, music interest and most importantly the friendship of his family. My thoughts go out to Betty , Eric , Dave and Judy , Cindy and Jacob, and the rest of the family i never had the pleasure of meeting. What is evident from knowing the family is what an amazing job he and Betty did raising their family. I thank him for leaving a lasting impact on me and many others. He will be missed.... "I remember Gary and Betty played competitive games of Scrabble with each other. Amazed me with their high point games. He played it cool but you could tell when he was about to deliver a high point word by the slight grin on his face. I will always think of you as a big brother I didn't have. "

"I will miss my kind and patient Uncle Gary. I remember, on the way to driving me home after a visit, he would always stop and buy a bag of candy bars to eat on the trip. I enjoyed our search for a home with him, and are still enjoying the house he found for us for over 10 years. My love to the great family he created. "
