Paul Hatcher, 80 of Gladbrook, IA passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 in Mission, TX. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 14, 2021 at Peace United Church of Christ. Internment will take place at Badger Hill Cemetery in Rural Gladbrook. Paul Henry Hatcher was born on February 23, 1941, in Marshalltown, IA to Carlton E. Hatcher and Maxine Johnson Hatcher Johannsen. He graduated from Wheatridge High School in Colorado. Paul served 4 years in the army. He was stationed in Germany for 3 ½ years. Upon returning from the service he was united in marriage to Darlene Dahms on January 25, 1963. They began married life in Alexandria, Virginia to later return to Iowa to have many career opportunities ending with 24 years with the United States Postal Service. Paul was actively involved with his community. He was chosen as the North Central Outstanding Rural Letter Carrier and became the Iowa Outstanding Rural Carrier in 1987. Paul served as the President of the Tama County Shrine Club in 1990. He was also president of the Lincoln Lions Club from 1990-1991. Paul served as Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge in Alden, Iowa. He enjoyed spending his free time golfing (especially with his grandson), fishing trips to Canada, hunting, camping, and traveling with family. His retirement years were spent in Mission, Texas.

Paul is survived by his wife of 58 years Darlene Hatcher, two daughters; Elizabeth (Brett) Miller of Gladbrook, IA, Deborah Friday of Sunrise Beach, MO, Foreign Exchange daughter; Denise Shaw of South Africa, two grandchildren; Justin (Anna) Miller of Gladbrook, IA, Hannah (Tanner) Thompson of Green Mountain, IA, and two great grandchildren; Kinley Miller and Vinny Thompson. Paul is also survived by two sisters Vicki Burkhardt (Sam LaRosa) of Alexandria, VA, and Julie Johannsen (Brent Jensen) of Scottsdale, AZ, and many nieces and nephews.
