Stephanie Hall Hampton
June 6, 1940 - June 8, 2021

Stephanie Hall Hampton of Grosse Pointe Woods, passed peacefully on June 8, 2021 at the age of 81. Stephanie was born in Detroit, MI on June 6, 1940 to the late Julia Graves Hall and Sidney Sterrett Hall, graduated from Grosse Pointe University School (GPUS) in 1958 and completed her Associate's Degree at Bradford Junior College. In 1973, Stephanie married Verne Churchill Hampton II and together they raised 3 children. Stephanie was very active in her family's lives, and was a volunteer and member of many organizations and clubs including, Tau Beta (President 1987-89), Tau Beta Flower Show (Chairman), Junior League Member, Orchestra Hall (Co-Chairman), Children's Home of Detroit (Board Member), Junior League Gardeners (President 2001-03), JLD Designers' Show House (Co-Chairman 1984 and 1986), GPUS Alumni Association, The Planned Parenthood League Association Board, Holiday Mart Chairman, and Christ Church Altar Guild. Her dedication and involvement earned her many accolades and awards including the, Junior League of Detroit Placement Award in 1982, the Tau Beta Association's Eloise Jenks Webber Award in 2002, and the Junior League of Detroit's Wendy Jennings Show House Award in 2002. She was also an avid bridge player and enjoyed reading, playing tennis, and needlepointing. Stephanie is survived by her daughter, Julie Hampton Thibodeau (Woody), son, Timothy Hall Hampton (Soozi), daughter-in-law, Karen Hampton, and grandchildren, Carly, Lilly, Abigail, Cassidy, Stephanie, Andrew, and Jack. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Verne Churchill Hampton II and her loving son, Howard Hampton. A memorial service will take place at 11:30am on Saturday, June 12th at Christ Church Grosse Pointe, 61 Grosse Pointe Blvd., Grosse Pointe Farms. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
