Kathleen A. VanTassell
June 7, 1917 - June 8, 2021

Kathleen "Kay" A. VanTassell, 104, of Port Ewen, NY passed away Tuesday morning, June 8th at the Thompson House in Rhinebeck NY.

Born on June 7, 1917, Kay was the daughter of the late Frederick and Anna Schwiegel Spinnenweber and the wife of the late John VanTassell. For many years Kay and John owned and operated Van's Drug Store in Port Ewen

Kay was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1935. All her life she was very involved in the Esopus community, serving as President of the Concerned Citizens of the Town of Esopus and she was also very active in the Town of Esopus Senior Citizens Club.

Kay is survived by her grandchildren Kathleen Brodhead of Port Ewen, Jon Brodhead of PA, a sister Virginia Robinson, five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews

She was predeceased by her son Palmer "Skip" J. Brodhead, a grandson Jeffrey Palmer Brodhead, a sister Ruth Spinnenweber and her brothers John "Jack" Spinnenweber and Frederick Spinnenweber

Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen the service will be private with entombment in Wiltwyck Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family would like to thank everyone involved with the care for Kay on the Livingston Unit at the Thompson House for their care and compassion.
