Eugene Peters
June 14, 1936 - June 10, 2021

Eugene Bartley Peters, 84, of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully at his home on June 10, 2021.

Eugene was born on June 14, 1936 in Kellogg, MN to Bartley and Elizabeth Peters. He was the youngest of four children. Eugene received his G.E.D. while serving in the United States Army. On September 28, 1957, Eugene married Joan Jacoby at the Church of Saint Felix in Wabasha, MN. Eugene served for two years in the United States Army at Fort Hood, Texas, before moving back to Minnesota and beginning his career at IBM, where he worked for 28 years.

Eugene enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, taking rides around the countryside, cracking walnuts, and listening to country music. He also enjoyed a good shrimp dinner. Eugene was a jokester and enjoyed telling stories.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Joan Peters of Rochester, MN; daughters, Julie (Kent Lawler) Meyers of Eyota, MN, Tamara (John) Hudson of Rochester, MN and Jacquelyn (David) Montedonico of Sharpsburg, GA; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Bessie (Charlie) Irish, and his brothers, Harold (Sophie) Peters and Francis (Jeanette) Peters; son-in-law, Donald Meyers; three sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at St. Michael's Catholic Church 451 5th St. SW, Pine Island, MN with the Reverend Randal Kasel officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment with full military honors will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery Preston. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mayo Hospice or Disabled American Veterans.
