In loving memory of

Mariana L. Carroll
December 23, 1930 - June 13, 2021

Mariana Louise (Osterhout) Carroll was born December 23, 1930, in Grimes, Iowa. She was the daughter of Curtis and Emma (Seibert) Osterhout. Her family moved to Kelly, Iowa in 1945.
Mariana accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 70. At 90, she went to be with Him on June 13, 2021.
Mariana graduated from Slater High School in 1949 in a class of 14 students. She played on their girls' basketball team that qualified for the State Tournament her senior year. She worked for five years at the Ames Laboratory at Iowa State University. She married William (Bill) Carroll in 1954. Bill and Mariana enjoyed raising their two children, Terry and Nancy.
Mariana loved and cherished being a stay-at-home Mom. In 1975, when Terry and Nancy were both in college, she went to school and graduated from Bernel's Beauty School. She had her own shop in their home until Bill passed away unexpectedly in 1978. She then went to work at J. C. Penney's for 14 years.
Mariana delighted in baking pies and cookies and getting together with friends and family. She enjoyed traveling to many States; highlights were Hawaii, Alaska, New York, with her fondest memory being going to California with her two grandchildren. She also had the opportunity to tour Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
Mariana loved, served, and relished her family and friends within the Ames community and at Heartland Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy Carroll, son Terry (Barb) Carroll, grandchildren Billy Carroll and Stephanie (Matt) Mishler, great granddaughters Ellie, Piper and Maren Mishler, and many dear friends and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother Wayne Osterhout.
