Lois Marjorie Bennett Rees, 90, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Homestead Senior Living Community.
Lois was born February 18, 1931 in Rushville, PA to George and Jessie (Baldwin) Bennett. After graduating from high school, Lois moved to Binghamton, NY, where she went to secretarial school. Lois worked for IBM in Endicott, NY, where she met her future husband, Griffith Rees. Griff and Lois were married on December 9, 1960 in Binghamton, NY. Together, they raised their family in Vestal, NY, Rochester, MN, Boca Raton, FL and finally back to Rochester, MN. Lois had a green thumb, enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She was a wonderful cook, had a strong appreciation for music, and loved to play the piano. Above all, Lois was a devoted wife, mother and caregiver, who excelled at the art of homemaking. She was an advocate for people with Down's Syndrome and over the years would volunteer for A.R.C. Lois was a kind, feisty and generous woman. She had an optimistic, thoughtful and cheerful attitude. Lois was a member of Autumn Ridge Church and was involved in many Bible studies. Lois loved reading her Bible and was a woman of strong, Christian faith. She will be missed and cherished by her family.
Lois is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Griff; children, David (Shelley), Bill (Carolyn Sharbrough), Eugene (Anna) and Renee; daughter-in-law, Lisa Calavetta; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her two brothers, Kenneth and Clifford Bennett and by her parents.
The Rees family would like to thank Nurse Julie Holst, The Mayo Care Transition Program and Mayo Clinic Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester with Pastor Woody Roland officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. The service will be livestreamed through the Ranfranz and Vine Facebook page. Burial will be held at a later date at Birchardville Cemetery in Birchardville, PA. Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Rees family.
