MARY WINKEL Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waterloo, Wisconsin. Muscatine Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2007, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, 1931 Houser Street, with a Rosary Prayer Service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waterloo, Wisconsin. MUSCATINE, Iowa - Mary Louise Winkel, 85, of Muscatine, died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Lutheran Homes where she had been residing. The Reverend Tom Gillespie will officiate the service. Casketbearers will be Mark Winkel, Pierre Winkel, Chris Winkel, Craig Ness, Aaron Summy, Abram Nelson, John Terre, Mike Herfel, and Emery Nelson. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterloo, Wisconsin, with Military Rites. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Mark Winkel. Mary was born on May 21, 1922, in Stekene, Belgium, the daughter of Florent and Jeanne Marie Aldeweireidt Terre. She married Francis Winkel on May 21, 1953. She served as a Corporal in the WAC division of the US Army during World War II. Mary was a dedicated homemaker. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed painting and gardening, was an avid bird watcher, and was an excellent seamstress. Survivors include her husband, Francis Winkel of Muscatine; two sons, Mark Winkel and wife, Dianna, of Letts, and Pierre Winkel and wife, Tamara, of Sleepy Hollow, Illinois; two daughters, Mary F. Bernadette of Port Washington, WI and Jeanne M. Ness and husband, Craig, of Bristol, Wisconsin; and a step-daughter, Marilyn Bordner and husband, Robert, of Van Nuys, California; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Peterson and Shirley Terre, both of Madison, Wisconsin; and one brother, Harvey Terre of Madison, Wisconsin. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Michiel-Louise Winkel, and one brother, Roger Terre.
