LUCILLE DUNKER MEDFORD, Oregon #45;- Lucille Elizabeth Dunker, 94, passed away on June 29, 2007, at the Rouge Valley Manor Health Center in Medford, Oregon. Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Paul Ostrem of the Zion Lutheran Church will officiate the service. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2007, in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2007, and from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2007, at the funeral home. Lucille was born in March of 1913, in Dubuque County, the youngest of seven children. She was the daughter of Charles and Bertha Haselow Ager. The Ager family lived on a farm in Dubuque County and one of Lucille's many tasks as a child was baking. It was a skill she maintained throughout her life. Holidays at Mom's/Grandma's were always a treat with freshly baked breads, pies, cinnamon rolls and cookies. Lucille attended Iowa State University graduating in 1935 with a degree in Home Economics. Lucille taught as the only teacher in a one-room schoolhouse near Dubuque. While attending ISU, she met the love of her life, Harvey Louis Dunker of Muscatine, Iowa. They were married in September 1936. They were the parents of two sons, Ronald and Charles. Following Harvey's graduation from ISU with an engineering degree, they relocated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where Harvey took an advanced position with HJ Heinz Company. At the end of his career, they spent two years living and working in Holland. Upon return, they moved to Oakmont, California. In 1989, they relocated to Rouge Valley Manor in Medford, Oregon where they spent the rest of their lives. Harvey passed away in 1990. Lucille had many talents including sewing, cooking and art. She enjoyed golfing, bridge, reading and traveling. Beyond that, she had a talent for sensing where help was needed and offering it. Throughout her life she actively sought ways to be of service to others. Lucille had a deep faith and was always active in her Lutheran church. She frequently visited those who were shut in or hospitalized. She would befriend lonely strangers and visit them regularly to bring hope and sunshine into their lives. She was generous with all she had and all that she was. Lucille had a deep abiding love and commitment to her family. Survivors include her two sons, Ron Dunker of Letts, and Charles Dunker of California; five grandchildren, Heidi Dunker Aduddell of Texas, Mike Dunker of California, Mark Dunker of Oregon, Ron 'R.J.' Dunker Jr. of Columbus Jct., and Ruth Dunker of Utah; nine great-grandchildren, Kali, Caitlin, Drake, Jacob, Julia, Ryan, Bethany, Raelynn and Chloe; her sister, Viola Diers of Mason City; and many much loved nieces and nephews.
