Marilyn Dorothy Houdek
October 4, 1933 - July 6, 2021

Marilyn Dorothy (Stucky, Abel) Houdek, 87, of Rochester, passed away at her home on July 6, 2021, with her family by her side. She was born October 4, 1933 to Donovan & Dorothy (Sandberg) Stucky in Kasson MN. Was baptized in the Kasson Methodist Church. Marilyn attended school in Kasson. On June 3rd 1951, she married Leonard Abel in Rochester. They lived in Kasson, moving to Rochester in 1953. Leonard worked for Marigold Dairy until passing away in April 1979. She lived in the same home for 65 years. She did in home day care for 50 different children over 20 years. Was active with Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts at Northrup school. Belonged to Solo parents for many years. She married Richard Houdek February 14, 1993 at the Little Brown Church. They were crafters and did a lot of craft shows. She loved to sew and made all kinds of pillows and aprons. Enjoyed having coffee with friends. She is survived by three sons, Daniel (Sue) Abel of Cedar Rapids, Mark (Sharon) Abel and Paul Abel of Rochester, two daughters, Mary (Tom) Crowe of Eyota and Melinda (Tom) Kelley of Hammond. Stepsons, Brian and Steve Houdek and stepdaughter Betsy (Todd) Johnson of Rochester. Nine grandchildren, four step grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Merle (Carol) Houdek, Dwayne (Diane) Houdek all of Rochester and sister-in-law, Marion Johnson of Harmony, MN. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, and two grandsons. The family wishes to thank Moments Hospice and Visiting Angels for all their care over the past few months.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2021 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. The service will be live streamed on the Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/Ranfranzandvine/ Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
