Robert "RT" Eugene Thomason
July 2, 1944 - July 10, 2021

Robert Eugene "RT" Thomason, age 77 of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Newton Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Monroe American Legion. Memorials can be directed to the Ronald McDonald House or Life Serve Blood Center. The son of Arthur Bruce and Inez Irene (Schrader) Thomason, RT was born on July 2, 1944 in Jasper County. Robert was a graduate from Monroe High School in 1962. On January 10, 1964, he was united in marriage to Donna Laver in Newton. RT worked as a tractor mechanic for over 50 years, and retired from Pella Implement in 2009. RT enjoyed going to his brother's farm, playing cards, reading, word search puzzles, doing morning coffee time with friends, and telling stories and jokes, including giving a hard time to friends and family. He was a proud blood donor and enjoyed collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald house.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Donna; two children, Rob "RT" (Carol) Thomason and Paula (Brandy) Kingery; four grandchildren, Mitch Merical, Matt (Gaby) Merical, Corbin Kingery and Caden Kingery; two great grandchildren, Jayde Griffith and Max Merical; his siblings, Carroll (Glenda) Thomason, Larry (Joanne) Thomason, Marcia (William) Livingston, Ruby Thomason and Becky Danilson and many nieces and nephews. Preceding RT in death were his parents and a niece, Catherine Livingston.
