MUSCATINE, Iowa - Thomas 'Tom' E. Dillon, 80, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, in Muscatine.

Funeral Service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Muscatine Chapter Red Cross or Muscatine Meals on Wheels.

Visitation will be from 1 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.


Tom was born on August 30, 1940, in Muscatine, the son of John P. and Jennie Sywassink Dillon. He married Karen Foster on September 20, 1969, in Muscatine. They later separated.

He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1959. He started working for Northwestern Bell, later called AT&T, and retired as a system technician after 26 years. After he retired, he worked at Lucas Communications.

Tom was a member of Bass Anglers Society, Ducks Unlimited, and Delta Waterfowl. He enjoyed fishing, walking his sons' dog 'Banks', and watching his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Chicago Cub, and Chicago Bears fan.

He is survived by his children, Debra Bennett and husband, Mike, of Fort Dodge, Clay Dillon and wife, Melissa, and Shanna Showalter and husband, Dave, both of Muscatine; four grandchildren, Thomas, Jack, Kaitlyn, and Carter; and four siblings, Mary Ellen Morris and husband, Earl, of Hamilton, Illinois, Judy Lust and husband, Gene, of Des Moines, Jack Dillon and wife, Vicki, of Tiffin, and Mike Dillon of Muscatine.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents.
