MUSCATINE, Iowa - LeRoy Brookhart, 87, of Muscatine, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Genesis East.

Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at the Grace Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.


Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the church.

LeRoy was born on August 30, 1933, in Muscatine, the son of Arthur and Lilly Leota Courtney Brookhart. He married Dixie Lee Erkson on January 6, 1955, in Burlington.

Leroy was a farmer and a member of the Grace Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and mushroom hunting. LeRoy liked to cook mushrooms and fish, for fish frys. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. Leroy enjoyed spending time with his family.

Those left to honor his memory include four daughters, Vicki Lawhead and husband, Carlin, of Muscatine, Debbie Barton and husband, Joe, of Killen, Alabama, Kathy Healy and husband, Liam, of Illinois City, Illinois, and Mary Morgan and husband, Mike, of Muscatine; 10 grandchildren, Chris Lawhead, Connor Lawhead, Eric Barton and wife, Kaleena, Michelle Stoffel and husband, Jestin, Stephanie Anderson and husband, Josiah, Aaron Healy, Hannah Mackey and husband, Kelvin, Nick Morgan, Travis Morgan, and Ben Morgan; and 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his wife in 2016; his parents; brother, Delbert Brookhart; and sister Mildred Wittmer.
