"Dear Bishop Vazquez and children, I am Darin Robert's mom. I know how much he and Holly loved you. They spoke of you often and told of the activities you did together as friends. I remember the kind service you gave them when they moved from Nibley - the hours and energy you gave as you and your sweet wife helped them load their belongings into the moving truck and then stayed into the night to help clean the home. The memories of you and your sweet wife are vivid in my mind the night proceeding Darin's passing. They were visiting at our home in Smithfield. That Sunday night we needed help, strength, lifting, support, and direction. We knew the help we needed could and would come from our Heavenly Father; Darin had need of a blessing. We suggested calling our Bishop who was a personal, very close friend of ours and lived closer to our home. Holly and Darin desired and were adamant, despite the lateness of the hour and distance, that you be called. They knew you would come; and you did come quickly. It didn't take long for us to see and feel why you were such a strength and comfort and friend to them. How well I remember the situation as you and my husband were preparing to give that blessing. Their four children were restless, and I'm sure confused about the events of that week-end and more particularly about the events and emotions of that late afternoon and evening. Your sweet wife took them down our basement to entertain them while that blessing was performed. I was so impressed and appreciative of her sensitiveness. You were a great comfort to them, and the following week as funeral plans were made and carried out, you were right there for Holly. I know she turned to you and Wendy during the dark hours and days that followed. Please know that Alan and I came to love both of you as well. We are saddened for you and your children's loss. We will pray for peace and comfort, acceptance and understanding for you and your family at this time. We know these tough, hard times can drive faith, love, and hope further down into our very beings. We know Heavenly Father helps us as we accept our challenges. and submit to Him. He will be there to lift and strengthen you through this very hard trial. May your testimonies ever remain strong and may you be able to recognize and see His hand and tender mercies in your life. We love you dearly for who you are and the sweet, tender memories of what you have been and done for us in our lives. Certainly you, Wendy, and your children are choice spirits of our merciful Heavenly Father. Alan and Sharon Roberts"
