Galen Lee Heyveld, age 70 of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 11:00 am at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Burial with Military Rites will be held at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday beginning at 9:30 am at the funeral home . The son of Harold John and Donna Joan (McCongehey) Heyveld, Galen was born on March 30, 1951 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1969 and attended DMACC. Galen was united in marriage to Tammy Dungan on April 27, 2001 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He worked at the Vernon Company for 20 years. Galen was a member of the Monroe American Legion. Galen enjoyed going to Indy Car Races. He also loved tinkering with and fixing things.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Tammy; children, Jeff (Shelly) Heyveld and Lori (Kyle) Padget; step daughters, Erica (Kevin Kading) Cooper and Kelsey Cooper; seven grandchildren, Leandra Heyveld, Skylar Heyveld, Garin Padget, Zebulin Padget, Kailyn Padget, Thea Kading and Ray Kading and a sister, Gloria Bishop. Preceding Galen in death were his parents and a brother, George.
