Robert L. 'Bob' McLaughlin
November 10, 1940 - January 19, 2008

Bob McLaughlin Memorial services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, Calvary Church. MUSCATINE, Iowa - On Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, the Lord Jesus came down and took Robert L. BobĀ McLaughlin, 67, of Muscatine. Private burial was at the Illinois City Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Ted Landers. The Rev. Dan Schoepf of Calvary Church will officiate the services, with the Rev. Ron Yohe of Faith Chapel assisting. Honorary casketbearers will be Hollie Weikert-Oldfield, Miranda Weikert-Chelsing, Jacob McLaughlin, Kayla McLaughlin, Travis McLaughlin, Erich Batchelor, Tanner McLaughlin, Lucas Batchelor, Sam McLaughlin, Jenna McLaughlin and Mallarie Oldfield. Following the services, a time of food and fellowship will be at Calvary Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is handling service arrangements. Mr. McLaughlin was born Nov. 10, 1940, in Muscatine, the son of Russell William and Marguerite (Shingledecker) McLaughlin. He married Helen L. Peterson on Dec. 6, 1959, in Nichols. He was employed at Hetzler Dairy and Heinz USA, he managed Nash Finch Warehouse Market for 15 years, B and M Heating and Cooling and was most recently employed by True Value Hardware. He faithfully attended Calvary Church and enjoyed collecting model classic cars and going to the drag racing track. A big part of his life was sharing with others, delivering fruit baskets during Thanksgiving and Christmas and helping those in need. He will be deeply missed by his wife; four children, Michael L. McLaughlin and wife, Tammy, Mendie J. Weikert and husband, Tim, William (Rusty) McLaughlin and wife, Tammy, and Kristal Batchelor and husband, Rich, all of Muscatine; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three siblings, Ronald McLaughlin and wife, Lucy, of Edmond, Okla., Diane Hatfield of Muscatine and Allen McLaughlin and wife, Shirley, of Liberty, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Robin L. McLaughlin; and a sister, Lois.
