Arlyn Walter Erickson
April 20, 1930 - July 18, 2021

Arlyn Walter Erickson, 91, of Hampton, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021, at his home in Hampton. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Graveside services will be held at the Dumont Cemetery immediately following the visitation on Saturday, with a time of lunch and fellowship afterwards at the Youth for Christ Building, 420 4th St SE, Hampton, IA 50441.

He was born April 20, 1930, on the family farm in Dows, Iowa, to Walter and Ila (Quasdorf) Erickson. He attended school until the eighth grade and then worked on the family farm until he enlisted into the United States Army. Arlyn served his country during the Korean War. On December 31, 1956, he was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Jones in Webster City, Iowa. To this union, three children were born: Belva, Lee and Carl.

Arlyn farmed in Minnesota until they moved back to Iowa. He worked at United Hydraulics. When their doors closed, he began working at Maytag in Hampton until his retirement. Arlyn enjoyed the outdoors; farming, gardening, hunting and fishing. In his younger years, he enjoyed reading. Family was very important to him; he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Arlyn is survived by his daughter Belva (Danny) Cross of Hampton; son Lee (Ruth) Erickson of Mackinaw, Illinois; son Carl (Anna) Erickson of Haughton, Louisiana; granddaughters Heather (Chase) Shank of Groveland, Illinois, Crystal Cross of Hampton, Jasmine (Kris) Simons of Hampton, and Melissa (Cody) Brown of Casey, Illinois; great grandchildren Ezekiel Bello, Natalie Bello, Oliver Simons, Richard Brown, Haylee Brown and Addison Brown; sister Judy Anderson of Washington State; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, and sisters Algeline, Virginia, Beverly, Marge and Donnabell.
