Thomas Giarratano, 83 of Marshalltown, IA passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi ~ St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service Friday, July 23, 2021 at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Online Condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com.

Thomas was born on November 14, 1937 in Marshalltown to Joseph and Elda (Buenger) Giarratano. He was united in marriage to Karen Juhl on July 22, 1961 at St Lawrence Catholic Church in Swaledale, IA. After graduating from St. Mary's Catholic School in 1956 he went on to serve in the Army from 1959 to 1961. Thomas later then went to work for 18 years at Dicks Auto before going to work at Fisher Controls as a Machinist retiring December 1, 1999. Thomas was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church all of his life. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus since 1956, and the American Legion. Thomas loved to travel after his retirement spending many years in Texas as well as taking a trip to Alaska. He was also an amid Iowa Hawkeye fan attending numerous games through the years. Most of all Thomas was a very humble person that loved spending time with his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Karen Giarratano; children, Angie (Bill) Demo of St. Johns, FL, Paul Giarratano of Marshalltown, IA; grandchildren, Maddie and Katie Demo; sister, Genevieve Crawford; brother and sister in laws, Lee Giarratano, Roger and Judie Juhl; and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Sam and Erwin.
