MUSCATINE, Iowa - Corporal Jack L Thorpe Sr., 92, passed away on Wednesday, July 21st, 2021, at his home.

Jack was born on April 26, 1929, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Lyman and Nellie Victoria Pasdach Thorpe. He married Phyllis Lorene James on December 2, 1956. She preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the American Legion. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Honor Guard of Muscatine City Inc. in Jack's honor. Jack was a Korean War veteran of the United States Army serving most of his time in Germany. He worked at Alcoa as a crane operator for 40 years before retiring in 1992. Jack enjoyed bowling and his cars. He especially loved his Lincoln with the eagle and flag painted on the hood and truck artwork by Hetzler.

He is survived by his children, Sheila L Erickson and her husband, Ray Wendt, of Muscatine and Jack L Thorpe Jr. and his wife, Vicky, of Muscatine; eight grandchildren; his sister, Pearl Bahr; and his daughter-in-law, Sally Thorpe, widow of Barry Dean.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis in 2015; two children, Barry Dean Thorpe and Nancy Lee Berta; his siblings, Gilbert, Robert, Chuck, June, and Delano; and a son-in-law, Douglas Daniel Erickson.
