Kenneth E. McAtee TRENTON, Mo. - Kenneth E. McAtee, 88, of the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of Chariton, Iowa, died Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, at the Iowa Veteran Home in Marshalltown. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008, at the Grundy Methodist Church in Trenton, Missouri. The Rev. Jerry Henderson will officiate. Casketbearers will be Donald E. McAtee, Kenneth E. McAtee, Jr., Ronnie L. McAtee and George M. McAtee. Honorary casketbearers will be Ryan A. Hunter, Aaron M. Hunter, Daniel J. McAtee, Dwayne L. McAtee, David L. McAtee, Mathew L. Hennon, Marcus R. Hennon and Nathan L. McAtee. Burial will be in the cemetery at Willis Chapel north of Brimson, Missouri, with graveside services 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services Friday, March 28, 2008, at the funeral home.The Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree, Iowa is handling the arrangements. A memorial has been established in Kenneth's name, memorials may be made to the Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home, 100 DeVoe Street, Lone Tree, IA 52755. Mr. McAtee was born on Jan. 25, 1920, in Brimson, Mo., the son of William Arnold and Mary Elizabeth Allen McAtee. He married Doris M. Tamblin on Dec. 3, 1945, in Gilman City, Missouri. She preceded him in death on Mary 21, 2007. He served with the United States Army during WW II, serving in the European Theatre, 5th Armored Division, from March 19, 1942 toNov. 19, 1945. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, mushroom hunting and anything to be in the outdoors. Most of his life he was a farmer and later construction projects. He will be deeply missed by his sons, Donald E. McAtee of Chariton, Iowa, Kenneth E. McAtee, Jr. of Lisbon, Iowa, Ronnie L. McAtee and wife, Cindy of San Antonio, Texas, and George M. McAtee and wife, Dawn, of Mayer, Arizona; his daughters, Connie L. Hunter and husband, David, of Pocatello, Idaho, Phyllis E. Hennon and husband, Rodney, of Orlando, Florida, and Patricia A. McAtee of Lisbon, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, David Edward McAtee; and a grandson, Kyle; three sisters, Annie, Mandy and Opal; eight brothers, Willie, Casper, Hubert, Arthur, Pascal, Willard, Merle and Leonard; and a daughter-in-law, Junette McAtee.
