Kenneth 'Ken' McCaffrey IOWA CITY, Iowa - Kenneth J. KenĀ McCaffrey, 73, of 18 N. Mt. Vernon Drive in Iowa City, died at his home Thursday, May 8. Memorial service will be 6 p.m. today at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City with the family greeting friends 3-6 p.m. prior to service. The family asks that memorials be directed to a charity of one's choice. He chose to be cremated. Mr. McCaffrey was born May 29, 1934, in Muscatine, the son of George and Helen (Morse) McCaffrey. He graduated from Muscatine High School. He earned both his bachelors and masters degrees in education from the University of Iowa. He married Kathleen Rhoades Sept. 14, 1963, in Arkansas. He was director of contract operations at ACT in Iowa City, retiring after 27 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Iowa City and served stateside in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters, Kerry McCaffrey and her son Kyle of Dardanelle, Ark. and Kim McCaffrey of Columbia, Mo.; twin sister, Karol Strand and husband, Leonard of Galesburg, Ill. and sister, Kay Zetler of Muscatine, Iowa and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard and a sister, Evelyn.
