Barbara Joan Zekeres
February 19, 1943 - August 4, 2021

Barbara Jean Zekeres, 78, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2021. Born in Jersey City she resided in Holiday City since 2005.

Barbara worked as a repair supervisor at Verizon at the Elizabeth, Toms River, and Manahawkin locations, pulling split shifts so she could raise her beloved daughter Melinda Johnson. She was an active member of the CWA and IBEW, and was known as a fair but firm supervisor

Barbara was the daughter of Mildred and William Roche d(deceased) and a dear sister of Carolyn Quinn and her late husband Skip; and to her nephews Billy, Michael and his wife Lyndsey, and grandaunt to their children Andrew and Alyssa. He is also survived by her step-son, Chas Zekeres, and by her former husband, Charles Zekeres.

Barbara was very close to her aunts Ruth Carol and Jeanne (deceased) and uncle Bill. She made many a trip with Ruth and Carol to Atlantic City for games of chance and a good meal. Barbara was always there for her extended family in times of joy and in times of trouble.

Barbara had many friends; she knew how to make them and how to keep them. The girls spent time together going to dances and socials, times at the shore, movie nights, swim club when it was hot, and the area's restaurants

Barbara had particular affection for her little cousins, Charlotte, Audrey, and Isla, remembering them on every birthday holiday and enjoying them as they rode the rides and ice cream at point Pleasant.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021 from 2-5pm at Forked River Funeral and Cremation Service, 1022 Lacey Road, Forked River.
