ESTHER GREEN WEST BRANCH, Iowa - Esther E. Green, 81, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Burial will be at the West Branch Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held at 4:30 Friday, June 20, 2008, and visitation will follow from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Mrs. Green was born October 27, 1926, in Brandon, the daughter of William E. and Elsie E. McDonald Hickey. She was a graduate of Brandon High School in the class of 1944. She married Raymond Hatfield and later James Green. She had been employed at the Cedar Rapids pickle factory as the vinegar lady in her early years and later worked at the Independence Mental Hospital, worked as a waitress at White's Caf�'© and American Legion in Independence. She also managed the Strawberry Point and Monticello Bowling Alley's, Monticello Country Club and Height's Supper Club. After she moved to West Branch she managed the Greenview Country Club, worked at the Presidential Motor Inn and Main Street Sweets. She is survived by six children, Ken Hatfield and wife, Sandy, of West Branch, Bill Hatfield and wife, Sheri, of Monticello, Dan Hatfield of West Branch, Renee Olson of Iowa City, Shelly Neumann and husband, Joe, and Janet Oehler and husband, John, of St. Louis, Missouri; a brother, Bill Hickey and wife, Ardis, of Independence; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pam Pederson; son, Mick Hatfield; grandson, Scott Hatfield; granddaughter, Britny Neumann; and a brother, Leo Hickey.
