Ruby Tompkins MUSCATINE, Iowa - Ruby Irene Tompkins, 94, of Muscatine died Friday, June 20, 2008, at Unity Hospital. Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Musserville United Methodist Church. Casket bearers are Kent Ziegenhorn, Ed Loving, Roger Tompkins II, Dean Carter, Kevin Tompkins and Eric Tompkins. Honorary bearers are Kim Truitt, Daleen Ziegenhorn, Robin Loving, Dena Tompkins, Bridgette Tompkins and Ron Nichols. Burial will be at the Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until service time Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at the church. Jeffrey S. Nichols Chapel Hill is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Ruby Tompkins Memorial Fund. Mrs. Tompkins was born December 1, 1913, in Grand Marsh, Wisconsin, the daughter of Frank and Laura La Mason Garrett. She married Francis L. Tompkins on November 7, 1931, in Rock Island, Illinois. They later divorced. She had been self-employed as a property manager for many years. She also worked for Pearl Products in earlier years. She is survived by two sons, Gary of Florida and Roger and wife, Mary, of Winchester, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, Daleen Ziegenhorn and husband, Kent, Robin Loving, Roger Tompkins II, Dena Tompkins, Kim Truitt, Kevin Tompkins, Eric Tompkins, Bridgette Tompkins, Beth Bourn, Arlene Tamm Tompkins and Samantha Tamm Tompkins; 15 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ted Garrett and wife, Roberta, of Columbus City. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters, a grandson, Scott Tompkins and a daughter-in-law, Isabel Dipple Tompkins.
