Leon V. Gold III, 60, of Jackson, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, August 15, 2021. Born at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station, he lived throughout the United States while his father was in the Navy. He has lived in the Ocean County area since 1980.
A veteran of the US Navy, Leon held a Black Seal Boiler Operator’s License, and worked as a landscaper earlier in his career. He loved to fish and hunt, and enjoyed camping, cooking, and was an avid Beatles fan. In the 1980’s, he was a founder and lead singer of the band “Standing Waves”.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leon Jr. and Beverly Gold, and by his cat, Boy. He is survived by the love of his life for 26 years Janis Aumack; his children, Leon IV and his wife Brianne of Jackson, Steven and his girlfriend Stephanie of Galloway, Valerie Hewatt and her husband Scott of Whiting, and Mariah Bialas and her husband Jake of Manahawkin; 9 grandchildren; his siblings, John Douglas Gold, Claudia Dolores Guertin, Margaret Jeanette Kippenhan, and Robert Wesley Gold; and his cat, Uno.
Cremation was private. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 2-4pm

"Uncle Lee would always told me his story about women he meant and all the fights he got into and how he loved life and I enjoyed every sec of those stories. We would stay up to watch true mafia movies and I loved it. I loved having him around and having him go places with us cause me and him had a different bond we loved each other and he was always fun to be around.
