Rhoda Mae Smith
August 15, 1932 - August 18, 2021

The Family of Rhoda Mae Smith, announce her passing in her sleep, on August 18th, approximately 10:am. She had just turned 89 on her birthday of August 15, 1932. She goes to meet Howard Smith her husband, who preceded her in June of 2018. They were married for 67 years, and raised a family of 4 children who survive them. Roxanna, Stephen, Darrel and Vincent Smith. Along with several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Rhoda is survived by 1 sister, Suzette Turner. Rhoda had 3 brothers, and 1 other sister, all who have preceded her.

Rhoda lived a good life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and teacher. Her faith and family, were always important to her. Active in church most of her life, and any church she attended, she made friends and loved all she came to know. We thank all her Doctors, Hospitals and Recovery Staff these last years, for all their time and talent. May God Bless all, who have come to know her, during her time on Earth.

Knowing she is in heaven with Jesus and with Howard, whom she missed very much.

Darrel Smith wrote on Aug 21, 2021:

"When I look back and remember. I'm grateful for all the times, you healed my hurts, and calmed my fears. Every small but significant lesson you taught me, so that I could face the world. I learned confidence and cooking. What it was to provide a safe and secure life, for me and my future. I'm thankful for all you showed me, about how to love and give. Lessons that now bring so many blessings to me, each and every day. Your sacrifices and unselfishness did not go unnoticed, Mom, I admire you, I respect you, I love you. I'm so glad you were my mother!"

"There are way too many but one of my favorite memories is when I returned back to Texas after I graduated high school. Her and I went to lunch one day. She parked in the farthest out parking spot in Town East Mall. As we begin to walk, she grabbed my hand and held it tight. I know you and Uncle Smitty are having the time of your life singing and playing the organ. I Love You!??"
