Mark Steven Njus
July 31, 1954 - August 22, 2021

Mark Steven Njus, 67, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 22, 2021. Mark was born on July 31, 1954, to Michael Wallace Njus and Betty (Zweibohmer) Njus in New Hampton, Iowa. Mark grew up on the family farm in Lawler and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1972. He attended Luther College in Decorah for one year, but decided he was not college material. He worked in construction in Waverly for several years. Then, in 1976, he moved to Carrollton, Texas, living with his uncle, David Njus, in search of work. He began working for Payless Cashways in September of 1976, where he met his future wife. Mark married Sandra Stephens on October 24, 1980 in Farmers Branch, Texas. Mark and Sandra made their home in Carrollton and he worked for Payless Cashways until 2001 when the business closed. Mark then went to work for 84 Lumber in Garland, Texas, and worked there until his retirement on July 31, 2020. Mark and Sandra did not have any children.

Mark is survived by his wife, mother Betty of New Hampton, sister Diane (Joe) Valade of Ruckersville, Virginia, brother Tom (Holly) Njus of Cedar Rapids, and brother David (Kristy Gould) Njus of Decorah, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, two uncles, and his aunt.

A Celebration of Life with the family will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021, at the Pinicon, 2205 S Linn Ave., New Hampton, Iowa, starting at 4:00 pm.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 18, 2021 from 2 PM till 6 PM at the Marriot Dallas Allen Hotel and Convention Center 777 Watters Creek Blvd. Allen, Texas 75013
