MESA, Arizona - Letha D. Schmidt, 81, formerly of Muscatine, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at The Citadel Assisted Living Facility in Mesa.

Graveside Service will be at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Letha DeAnn was born on November 29, 1939, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Delmer D. and Ethel L. Miller. She married Harold E. Schmidt on March 9, 1968, in Wellman, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 2010.

Letha worked at Muscatine General Hospital from 1968-1995 as the Director of Materials Management. She was a member of the Sweetland United Methodist Church in Muscatine, Women of the Moose, Muscatine Hospital Auxiliary, and the American Legion.

Letha is survived by her daughter, Tina and Eric Hute of Mesa, Arizona; two sons, Thomas and Donna Hershberger of Quad Cities, Iowa, and Timothy and Nargiza Hershberger of Cantonment, Florida; two stepdaughters, Candice Henry of Arvada, Colorado, and Marla and Bob Spurgeon of Muscatine, Iowa; and one stepson, Randy Schmidt of Muscatine, Iowa; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Glenn and Wanda Miller of Willard, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents, sister and two step grandchildren.
