Eleanor "Louise" White
Eleanor "Louise" White 85 of Canton, passed away on Sunday August 29, 2021, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
Louise was born on May 13, 1936, in Canton, to Melvin and Helen (Stambaugh) Maurice. They both preceded her in death.
She married Jack Berry and then later married Raymond White which was the love of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Andrena (Ross) Roth, three grandchildren, Nicholas (Andrea) Roth, Jennifer (David) Wright and Craig (Amber) Roth, six great grandchildren, Tanner, Zachary, Colton, Ryder, Sunshine and Pasley, and several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond White, three stillborn sons, three sisters, Donna Nash, Melba Phillips, and Beverley Galloway and a brother Morse Maurice.
Louise graduated from Canton Sr. High, Spoon River College and later in life graduated from Western Illinois University.
Louise worked at the YWCA, YMCA, Financial Aid at Graham School of Nursing, Financial aid at Spoon River College and Financial Aid at Lincoln College. She was the township supervisor for many years and volunteered at Graham Hospital every week. She was a church organist for at least 70 years and played for weddings and funerals.
She was a Christian woman who served the lord throughout her life. She was a Christian mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who loved, taught, and mentored all of them throughout their lives.
Louise can be most remembered by her ability to listen and teach people. She knew no stranger and took great pride in helping people succeed. She will be deeply missed across her immediate family and all the others she was able to meet and influence across her life. She was loved by all.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
Memorials may be made to the Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
