December 24, 1928 - December 1, 2008

JERRY REGENNITTER FAIRPORT, Iowa - Jerry Eugene Regennitter, 79, of Fairport, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2008, at his home. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2008, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Bishop John Teed will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Kim Regennitter, Kevin Regennitter, George Regennitter, Donnie Brady, Nathan Regennitter, Shane Regennitter, and Dave Dvorak. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2008, at the funeral home. Jerry was born on December 24, 1928, in Bennett, the son of George and Dorothy Thoms Regennitter. He married Darlene Conklin on August 26, 1950, in Muscatine. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1946. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving at the end of World War II and discharged in Aug. 1949. He was a truck driver for Sid Geeding and Gless Bros. He operated Jerry's Auction Service and was an auctioneer. He and his wife were antique dealers and owned the former business Sooner or Later on Second Street. He was a craftsman and woodworker who enjoyed building and refinishing furniture in his woodshop and he could fix anything. He enjoyed working in his yard, caring for stray animals, and when he was young he flew airplanes as a hobby. He loved being around his grandchildren and liked taking them fishing and boating. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch swing with his wife and looking out on the Mississippi River. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Regennitter of Fairport; four sons, Kim Regennitter and wife, Teresa, of Strawberry Point, George Regennitter and wife, Dixie, of Revere, Missouri, Kevin Regennitter and wife, Angie, of Fairport, and Donnie Brady of Fairport; 14 grandchildren, Cassandra, Jessica, Brittany, Ashley, Kelsey, Misty, Creighton, Melissa, Nathan, Erica, Shane, Renee, Karrie, and Tracy; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Norman Regennitter.
