Edward Ted 'Spike' Stoddard SABULA, Iowa - Edward Ted SpikeĀ Stoddard, 68, of Clinton, formerly of Sabula, died Friday, December 5, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at the United Methodist Church, Sabula. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Interment will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2008, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Sabula and one hour prior to the service at the church.A memorial fund has been established in Edward's memory. Mr. Stoddard was born on October 12, 1940, in Iowa City, the son of Fredrick and Mary Parson Stoddard. He attended Sabula area schools. He was a panel operator for National By-Products, Clinton, for 25 years. He was a longtime member of the Sabula United Methodist Church. He loved listening to music, especially Elvis Presley. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by four sons, Jerry Stoddard and wife, Amy, of Clinton, Guy Stoddard and wife, Joelle, of Erie, Illinois, Gary Stoddard and wife, Gail, of Maquoketa, and Matthew Stoddard of Clinton; three daughters, Mechelle Justice and husband, Sean, of Clinton, Melissa Jackson and husband, William, of Clinton, and Bonnie Gage and husband, Lowell, of Clinton; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Martin Stoddard and wife, Shirley, of Savanna, Illinois, Ronald Stoddard and wife, Joyce, of Clinton, and Jim Stoddard and wife, Salona, of Clinton; four sisters, Sally Norman and husband, Terry, of Franklin, Georgia, Mary Bernal and husband, Norbert, of Tuscan, Arizona, Shelly Stoddard of Preston, and Myrna Dague and husband, Ronald, of Sabula; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Cliff Robinson. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Gregory Stoddard and Dayton Bacon; and a foster-brother, Tom Dent.
