Gerald 'Jerry' Chamberlain MILES, Iowa - Gerald Jerry Chamberlain, 85, of Miles, passed away Wednesday , December 10, 2008. He passed peacefully during his sleep, from the arms of his loving family to the loving arms of Jesus Christ, at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston. Burial will be at the Calvary Hill Cemetery in Fulton, Ill. There will be a time of food and fellowship following the interment. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2008, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston. The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will lead a Living Cross at 7:30 p.m. Jerry was born on June 24, 1923, near Miles, the son of Ralph and Rose Hickey Chamberlain. He married Josephine Patton Blair on November, 27, 1971. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, as well as a member of the Izaak Walton League, VFW, Albany Historical Society, Genealogical Society, Moose Family Fraternity, and the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed evenings supporting minor league baseball in Clinton, but his heart belonged to the Chicago Cubs. He cherished his time and memories as a farmer on their beautiful farm outside Miles. He leaves to honor his legacy his wife, Josephine Chamberlain of Miles; sister, Madonna Forcier of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Kay Ferris of Edgewood, Maryland, and Rosemary Wright of Kannapolis, North Carolina; a son, Dick Blair of Cordova, Illinois; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents,; a brother, Bob, and four sisters, Rose Marie, Marian, Marjorie and Maxine.
