"Jim "Sackett" was one of a kind! A true friend and one of our very few "guy" friends all the way back from high school that never lost touch with many of us. My husband got to know him and enjoyed his visits on his to our house just a few blocks away, on his four wheeler as well, always with his dog when Diane was working. Love his laugh, his smile, and his thoughtfulness. He was excited when he helped us get in touch with so many more classmates for one o our big reunions and you always knew he would be in attendance to catch up with as many as possible! He was reliable, if he said he was going to do something, he did it, even when he might not really want to. Mayo High Class of 1979 reunions will never be the same Jim, we will be thinking of you! Diane and boys, know your husband and dad, meant the world to a lot of people. We couldn't be there in person today, but were with you, watching and listening to the live stream service. Jeff Nietz---So glad you got up to talk about your best buddy, nice job!"

Jeff RA Brown wrote on Sep 2, 2021:

"I'll miss you Coach Sackett...Jimbo...Jim....You were a part of some of the best years of my life growing up. When I'd run into you in recent years I'd feel like I was right back to the good old days-- playing on hockey teams and hanging out with Tom and Tony. It didn't seem like a big deal at the time, but a couple of years ago after a Mayo Hockey Golf Tournament Tom, Canz, Kasdagly, and I made a surprise visit to see you and Diane at the house after golf. You had just retired. We had a couple beers, you showed us a collection of old brass sprinkler fittings (which normally would be boring but with you explaining them were actually pretty cool), we shot bows and caught up on each others lives. You were so happy to be with all of us again at your house and although I'm sad we won't do that again, I'll treasure and am thankful for that memory. Thanks for all the support and looking out for us over the years, Jim....you'll be missed but remembered fondly. Tom, Tony, Diane - I'm so sorry for your loss. Your husband / father was an amazing man. I love you all. Take care - Jeff Brown"
