In loving memory of

JungJin Kim
October 13, 1972 - September 6, 2021

Dr. JungJin Kim was born to Doosung Kim and Hyekyung Nam in Seoul on October 13th, 1972. She also had one younger brother named Heon Kim. She graduated and received her bachelor's degree from Seoul Women's University. In 2000, she finished her Master's degree for cancer biology in Yeonsei University. At the time, she received the Best Paper Award. She completed her internship at Ewha Women's University in 2001. Then up to 2010, she got her doctoral degree from Korea Medical University. She also received another Best Paper Award upon graduation. Until 2019, she completed her postdoctoral fellowship in the oncology department under Dr. Zhenkun Lou at the Mayo Clinic. Then from 2019 to her last day, she worked in the Radiology department under Dr. Val Lowe. Her most recent position was an Assistant Professor. She contributed to a total of 27 great papers which held extreme importance to scientists and society. She was also a famous best-selling author in Korea for her two romance books which, in a way, detailed the life that she believed she lived in.

She started to believe in God in college and had lived in peace and happiness through faith in Him. While living in His love, she unexpectedly got breast cancer in 2016 and she was going through it well. However, in November 18, 2020, the cancer had recurred and after battling the cancer through many different treatments, we had to send her away to God's arms. Her family consisted of herself, her daughter whom she loved so much, and her best friend that went everywhere with her. That is why through her various treatments, she remained happy. She was very optimistic and a smile never left her face. Wherever she was, positivity radiated.

She was a kind, lovely, and hardworking mother. She always wanted the best for her daughter, Christine, and treated her with so much love. She always made sure that Christine was happy, made sure she was getting the best things in everything there was. Christine will always, always remain thankful and loving to Jin.

We were greedy and kept her by our side for a long time, and now we release her to our Father in Heaven's side. We will never forget her and hope that she remembers only the good memories remain.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am Friday, September 10, 2021 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes (5421 Royal Pl NW, Rochester, MN 55901). Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the funeral home.
